Arsenic (III) detection with underpotential deposition on gold

چکیده

We report a new, sensitive stripping voltammetric method for the detection of As(III) in aqueous solution using either gold macroelectrode or nanoparticle-modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) based on underpotential deposition (UPD) As ad-atoms. The pre-concentration step deposits and accumulates ad-atoms onto is followed by potential sweep to strip with no interference from Cu(II) Cl- at electrode. Linear responses were found range 0.01 μM 0.1 0.005 macroelectrodes electrodes, respectively. visually clearly discernable signals recorded (0.4 ppb) electrodes suggests that this has practical value given WHO limit 0.13 (10 drinking water.

Simulated Dynamics of Underpotential Deposition of Cu with Sulfate on Au(111)

Numerical studies of lattice-gas models are well suited to describe multi-adsorbate systems. One example is the underpotential deposition of Cu on Au(111) in the presence of sulfuric acid. Preliminary results from dynamic Monte Carlo simulations of the evolution of the adsorbed layer during potential-step experiments across phase transitions are presented for this particular system. The simulat...

Ultrasensitive aptamer biosensor for arsenic(III) detection in aqueous solution based on surfactant-induced aggregation of gold nanoparticles.

This paper reports the colorimetric and resonance scattering (RS)-based biosensor for the ultrasensitive detection of As(III) in aqueous solution via aggregating gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) by the special interactions between arsenic-binding aptamer, target and cationic surfactant. Aptamers and the cationic surfactant could assemble to form a supramolecule, which prevented AuNPs from aggregating...

Effects of Mercaptopyridines on the Underpotential and Overpotential Deposition of Copper on Pt(111)

We present cyclic voltammetry studies of the underand overpotential deposition of copper on a Pt(111) electrode in aqueous 0.50 M sulfuric acid solution in the presence and in the absence of adsorbed layers of 2and 4-mercaptopyridine (2-MP, 4-MP). In general, the presence of adsorbed layers has been found to inhibit electrodeposition processes, suggesting very strong interactions between the ad...

Overpotential deposition of Ag monolayer and bilayer on Au(1 1 1) mediated by Pb adlayer underpotential deposition/stripping cycles

Ultra-thin Ag films on the Au(1 1 1) surface were prepared via overpotential deposition (OPD) in the presence of Pb2þ ions. By carrying out repetitive Pb adlayer underpotential deposition (UPD) and stripping cycles during Ag bulk deposition, the two-dimensional growth of Ag films was significantly enhanced in high OPD. The Ag monolayer sample was made by comparing the voltammetry curves, in whi...

Underpotential deposition of Cu on Au(111) in sulfate-containing electrolytes: a theoretical and experimental study

We study the underpotential deposition of Cu on single-crystal Au(111) electrodes in sulfate-containing electrolytes by a combination of computational statistical-mechanics based lattice-gas modeling and experiments. The experimental methods are in situ cyclic voltammetry and coulometry and ex situ Auger electron spectroscopy and low-energy electron diffraction. The experimentally obtained volt...
